Westside From My POV

The Westside is where a lot of my clients ultimately land, and after twenty years I completely understand why. Brentwood, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Mar Vista, Playa Vista—each neighborhood has its own personality, but they all share that west-facing, ocean-adjacent quality of life that people come to LA specifically for. The light is different out here. The air is different. It’s not just marketing—it’s real. The Westside has always been in demand, and that demand isn’t going anywhere.

What I Love About Westside

The variety within the Westside is something I love about working here. Brentwood has quiet, tree-lined residential streets and one of the best farmers markets in LA. Santa Monica gives you beachfront access, a world-class dining scene, and the Third Street Promenade. Pacific Palisades feels almost like a small town perched above the coast. Mar Vista and Playa Vista offer more approachable price points while still giving you access to everything that makes the Westside great. And the outdoor lifestyle here—hiking in Temescal Canyon, cycling along the beach path, morning runs through Brentwood—is exceptional.

Life in Westside

The Westside lifestyle is coastal California at its most refined. Good schools, safe streets, proximity to the ocean, excellent restaurants, and a built environment that prioritizes quality. The trade-offs are price and traffic—this is some of the most expensive real estate in LA, and the 405 through here has earned its reputation. But my clients who choose the Westside are making a deliberate choice: they want the best version of LA living, and they’re willing to invest in it. For families especially, the combination of schools, safety, and lifestyle makes the Westside almost impossible to argue against.

My Top Picks

Caffè Luxxe

The Westside’s gold standard for coffee. Multiple locations in Brentwood, Santa Monica, and the Palisades—and every one of them is consistent. Named best coffee shop in Brentwood for good reason. I’ve been a regular for years.

Farmshop

Inside the Brentwood Country Mart with a brunch menu that reads like a dream and a crowd that reflects the neighborhood perfectly. Great produce, thoughtful sourcing, and the “you never know who you’ll see” energy that comes with the location.

Jon & Vinny’s

Italian-American comfort food done extremely well—house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, and a room that’s always energized without being overwhelming. Brentwood’s most-loved dinner spot and for good reason.

Sweet Rose Creamery

Also in the Brentwood Country Mart. Handmade, scratch ice cream using local farmers’ ingredients—the salted caramel is the one everyone talks about. Simple, excellent, and a perfect end to a Brentwood afternoon.

Paisita Cafe

Strong Salvadoran coffee and a Latin American-inspired menu with chilaquiles, chimichurri steak sandwiches, and a spicy chicken caesar wrap. Approachable, delicious, and a refreshing counterpoint to the neighborhood’s higher-end spots.

Giorgio Baldi

The crown jewel of Brentwood dining. Northern Italian cuisine, handmade pasta, fresh seafood, and a room that draws the full spectrum of LA’s food-serious crowd. Special occasion dining at its finest on this side of the city.
